Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, widely known as Farmaajo, is a distinguished Somali statesman and diplomat who served as the 9th President of the Federal Republic of Somalia (2017–2022) and previously as Prime Minister (2010–2011). Throughout his leadership, President Farmaajo has been recognized for his unwavering commitment to combating corruption, strengthening national institutions, and rebuilding the Somali National Army — central pillars of his broader vision for peace, stability, and national unity.
In 2012, he founded the Nabad iyo Nolol (“Peace and Life”) political party, championing a governance philosophy rooted in integrity, self-reliance, and progress for all Somalis.
During his tenure, President Farmaajo also celebrated the dedication of Somali institutions and civil servants — notably presenting national honors to the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for their pivotal role in restoring Somalia’s sovereign control over its airspace after nearly three decades.
